Penn Valley Airport

Client: Penn Valley Airport

When the Penn Valley Airport Authority needed a new terminal and commerce building, LeFevre Wilk Architects, LLC (LWA) was ready to tackle the challenge.

The project – to create an adaptive, functional 7000 SF space on 2 acres of land – was an upgrade of the existing terminal, which was deeply in need of a contemporary look that would serve as a site for public and private events. To achieve the client’s goals, LWA worked closely with Airport Authority executives to design a building that was flexible in design and modern in appearance.

The main feature of the aesthetically-pleasing terminal and commerce building is a clerestory entrance corridor separating public and private areas. A wide, expansive feeling leads visitors through a covered patio to indoor and outdoor spaces where guests can watch takes offs and landings. The resulting structure also has a limited access area for pilots to relax, recharge and commingle between flights.
