PROJECTS Penn Valley Airport Authority New Terminal And Commerce Building January of 2000, the Penn Valley Airport Authority set out to upgrade its present terminal. The Airport Authority wanted a new terminal to meet their daily operational needs. The Authority envisioned a facility with curb appeal and a place for public events. We worked with the Airport Authority to develop a program that provided a practical solution for daily and community activities. The project that evolved has public and private areas separated by a clear story entrance corridor. The public portion contains a covered colonnade leading to the main entrance. A clear story leads to the runways giving the structure an open feeling. There is a large waiting space where passengers and visitors can view the runway. This waiting area and clear story are arranged so the facility may be used for social events. Off this area is a wing of office spaces for public tenants. The private part of the structure houses the Control Room, Flight Planning Room, Private Pilots Lounge and Vending Area. There is an after-hours entrance for pilots and commuter flight passengers with rest room accommodations. The facility has a covered patio area to view the runways and allows for outdoor activities. Our firm provided full architectural services including building and interior design, construction documents and bidding.
